Servings: 4

Preparation time: 2 hours

Method:

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.

You will also need to butter a loaf pan. Set aside. You should also set aside another pan, bigger than the first one that you don’t need to butter up, to use as bain-marie and will explain further.

Prepare the caramel first. Place the sugar evenly into a medium skillet and add the water and lemon juice. Cook on medium heat without stirring, but instead swirl the pan as needed so it does not stick.

When the sugar is liquefied but not sticky pour into the buttered loaf pan, as evenly as possible

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, and sugar. Add vanilla next. Also, gradually add the milk, and continue whisking the mixture.

Continue stirring or whisking until you are satisfied with the texture. It should look like custard.

Place water (about 1-2 cups into the large pan and the buttered one inside. Add the custard mixture on top of the caramel you already poured in.

Bake in the oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes or so.

When it is done, remove from the oven and let it cool down for 30 minutes before placing into the refrigerator for another hour to make sure it is well-chilled.

Enjoy this wonderful dessert when you are ready.
